Let's go to Kirchenlaibach

by Friedhelm Weidelich

Kirchenlaibach is still a railway hub. But the steam locomotive depot has been gone for 50 years. My 22 photos show, among other things, long-forgotten coal-loading facilities—simple inspirations for gauge 1 layouts.

Giessen: Large-scale live steam

Models for Gauge 0 and Gauge 1 are considered large among model railroaders. MAN-Modellbau exhibited “slightly” larger models in Giessen—which attracted a great deal of interest.

The last Prussion P 8 Engines

by Friedhelm Weidelich

Due to their widespread use, the Prussian P 8 and its replicas are more varied than almost any other steam locomotive. This is evident from my photos of some class 38 locomotives that were last stationed in Rottweil and Tübingen. Selecting models for a gauge 1 production will be like playing detective.

A Bavarian S 3/6 in Villingen

by Friedhelm Weidelich

50 years ago, back in the days of the Deutsche Bundesbahn, events were possible that are no longer feasible today due to a lack of switches, tracks, and staff. Here are a few snapshots from August 28, 1975, which include a long-decommissioned Bavarian S 3/6.

Special train without date

by Friedhelm Weidelich

During the 1970s, 01 173 was probably the only class 01 locomotive to have operated on the Gäubahn line for decades. In sleet, it pulled a special train together with a class 64 locomotive. A beautiful motif at the turn of the year. But on what date did I photograph the train? The internet helped me find the answer.
